COACHING INSIGHTS
The world is the abode of desires and fears. You cannot find peace in it. For peace you must go beyond the world.”
On some level we really get this.
On another level we deny it, because although we KNOW it to be true, we don’t want to think that the outer world we are currently experiencing is not our “Real Life.”
As a Business Coach, Life Coach and Success Coach the subject inevitably comes up around successes in life and the TRUTH of the matter is it is AN INSIDE JOB.
We easily get caught up in ‘Appearances’ and think that what we see around us (our circumstances) are what is true.
Circumstances are just that.
Circumstances.
They come every day.
Day-after-day.
I believe that we are here to CHANGE. To grow and to transform our lives.
If I didn’t…I wouldn’t be coaching!
Some fifteen years ago as I was completing my own COACH TRAINING I hired a Coach.
There were numerous Coaches that had been recommended, however I found myself trusting my intuition.
I hired THE BEST Coach I could afford at the time and the Coach that I felt that could expedite my growth as a new Coach!
It was one of the best investments in “Me” that I could have made.
In that process, I learned a lot.
So much in my life at that time was tied to “appearances.” (We all want to LOOK good to others, right?)
As we see more and more of that in our world today, when I found this article about “Transcending Appearances” I wanted to share it with you!
Below are some “TIPS” from Dr. Wayne Dyer on Transcending Appearances.
#1 Let Go of Attachments
In silence, start to release your attachment to the importance of outer impressions. You might visualize yourself building a huge bonfire and imagine tossing things into the fire. Throw in your jewelry, clothes, automobiles, trophies, everything, even your job title. With each item that goes into this imaginary fire, feel yourself being freer and freer.
#2 Remove Labels Attached To Your life.
Make an attempt to describe yourself without using any labels. Write a few paragraphs in which you do not mention your age, sex, position, title, accomplishments, possessions, experiences, heritage or geographical data. Simply write a statement about who you are, independent of all appearances.
#3 Look For The Loving Presence In Others.
Take a day to attempt to see the fullness of God in everyone you encounter. Rather than seeing only another physical being, tell yourself that the Christ in me is meeting the Christ in you. Or spend a day silently reciting the word “love” whenever you encounter another human being. This has such a powerful effect that you may choose to use it as a silent background mantra throughout your day.
#4 Remember That You Build Muscles By Picking Up Heavier Objects.
This applies to your spiritual weight lifting, too. You will build yourself up spiritually by attempting tougher and tougher assignments. One of the toughest assignments is to disregard the ego message to evaluate yourself with the criteria of appearance and possessions. But know each time you are able to be less judgmental toward others or yourself, you are becoming stronger by having taken on the heavier spiritual weights.
#5 Cultivate YOUR calling.
Make an attempt to shift your career objective from self-absorption to a CALLING. That’s right, a CALLING. Use your talents and gifts to SERVE. Your life work will take on a dramatic shift toward abundance, and you will feel on purpose and more of your true SELF.
